Advanced Arc Suppression for 3–35kV Ungrounded Power Systems

In China’s 3–35kV power supply systems, most are neutral ungrounded. During single-phase grounding, the grid can continue operating with faults, which improves reliability and reduces operating costs. However, this mode is prone to arc grounding overvoltages and phase-to-phase short circuits, especially when the fault current is high—posing serious risks to power equipment.

Traditional solutions used arc suppression coils to compensate for capacitive current and reduce arc formation. However, due to limitations such as ineffective high-frequency suppression and incomplete compensation, this method has proven insufficient.
